The worst thing to do is to do nothing at all. Seeking counseling is a sign of strength! If you feel lost, confused and hopeless, allow me to partner alongside you and help you walk through the darkness into your light.Â
One of my strongest beliefs is that therapy begins in a nonjudgmental, safe and open space where the client is seen for who they are. My goals are to provide a safe environment for my clients as well as to promote trust and understanding. I believe in the importance of meeting my clients where they are, using/teaching active listening and providing evidence-based techniques curated for each individual client because therapy is not a one size fits all. I incorporate modalities such as positive psychology, narrative therapy, SFT, DBT and EMDR to embrace a whole person focus and approach that uses the power of neuroplasticity to re-wire old habits keeping you stuck.Â
Born in Medellin, Colombia, raised in New Jersey and a citizen of the world has given me great insight into the complexity of people and the importance of cultural competency I began my journey to becoming a therapist and switching career paths through volunteer work in my late 20s with youth and mission groups. I graduated with a B.A. in psychology from Otterbein University in 2015. After graduation, I worked in substance abuse, leading mindfulness groups and as a team member of an Intensive Outpatient Women’s program. I have vast experience working with art therapists and co-leading art therapy groups to release the wounds not ready to be spoken. I received my Master's degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine in 2019. I was intern of the year and community mental health therapist at OhioGuidestone, one of the leading community mental health agencies in Ohio. I specialize in working with families having experience as a school-based therapist and school social worker for large districts in and surrounding the Columbus area. My passion is people and I am honoured to be a part of your journey.Â
